Reflecting on 2024 at Focus Foster Care
2024 has been a busy year here at Focus Foster Care. With the new year just around the corner, we wanted to take this moment to reflect on the past 12 months. Our independent fostering agency continues thrive and we are proud to have supported so many fostering families this year.
Let’s take a trip down memory and reflect on everything we’ve achieved at Focus Foster Care in 2024.
Our fostering families
Focus Foster Care is small fostering agency based in the West Midlands. This year we have supported and nurtured 8 fostering families. Our dedicated foster carers have cared 15 children this year.
We are proud of the commitment and dedication all our foster carers show every single day. Fostering has its challenges, and our carers have handled difficult circumstances with patience and kindness in their hearts.
This year our fostering families have experienced lots of high moments too. We have foster carers extending their properties and a birth family member got engaged!
At Focus we nurture our fostering community, that includes celebrating everyone in our fostering households.
The Focus team
The Focus Foster Care team is made up of experienced and hardworking professionals. Our social workers and office team have provided consistent support to our fostering families every day of 2024.
While there were no new team members this year, we have welcomed a new face to our fostering panel. Keilagh joined our fostering panel earlier this year and has played an important role in our panel meetings.
Celebrating children in foster care
Life as a child in foster care isn’t always easy. Often children and young people living in care have faced several challenges in their life before moving in with their foster carers.
Our fostering team work hard to help the children in their care to thrive and reach their full potential. This year the children in our fostering community have achieved and experienced some amazing things.
There are too many achievements and milestones to list here, so here are just some of the highlights:
- Children pursued new hobbies including kickboxing and karate
- Children were enrolled and invested into scouts
- Children visited the seaside for the first time
- A child attended a birthday party for the first time
- Children completed SATS
- Children successfully transitioned to secondary school
- Our children have received awards including library challenge, virtual school and dancing.
- Some of our children overcame their fear of water and learnt to swim
- Children met celebrities from Emmerdale!
Foster carer social events
At Focus Foster Care we understand the importance of a strong support network. We have worked hard over the years to create a nurturing fostering community. Our fostering families are providing with several opportunities to meet and connect throughout the year.
In 2024, we enjoyed successful foster carer social events at Kingsbury Water Park and Cattows Farm.
Our fostering families had fun eating picnics and skimming stones in the summer and picking pumpkins during the October half term.

Looking ahead to 2025
This year we have been exceptionally proud of our foster carers who face challenges in a positive way, provide new opportunities and promote the existing interests of the children in their care.
The majority of the children we care for have care plans of long-term foster care, matched with our carers. It is incredible that our foster carers are able to provide permanence to children. These long-term placements bring children a sense of security and belonging, whilst also nurturing birth family links and relationships.
Where we have not been able to provide children with a long term match this year, we successfully moved children on in a planned way to their next chapters.
In 2025 we hope to extend our team of foster carers. By growing our fostering team, we will be able to care for more children in need of a safe and nurturing environment.
Merry Christmas!
It has been another busy yet successful year here at Focus Foster Care. Our fostering team has worked hard all year to provide children with all the love and support they need.
We are wishing everyone in our fostering community a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
