Student Social Worker Placement – Farewell and Good Luck to Sophie!
At Focus Foster Care we are passionate about supporting children, families and foster carers in the West Midlands area. As well providing foster care to those in need, we also support student social workers by offering placements to university students.
Sophie is our most recent student social worker and joined the Focus family in November 2022. As her time with us draws to an end, we want to wish Sophie good luck with the rest of her studies and for her future career in social work.
It has been a pleasure to have Sophie as a part of the Focus Foster Care team. We are grateful for all of her hard work and look forward to see what Sophie goes on to do next.
Parting words from our student social worker
If you are a student social worker and are considering a placement here at Focus Foster Care, here are some words from Sophie, all about her experience with us:
I am very fortunate to have worked and continued my studies at Focus. The endless support and encouragement from the agency has enabled me to step outside my comfort zone and develop as a (nearly) qualified social worker. My overall experience has truly been amazing at the agency, and I have for sure faced some difficult challenges along the way. I have learnt that fostering is a challenging, yet rewarding role that requires carers and professionals to be passionate about children. I believe this is a necessity in order to improve outcomes for children as well as regular, open, and honest communication.
During my 100 days at Focus, I have developed amazing professional relationships with not only the carers and children, but the staff and of course our beloved dog, Honey! I will most certainly miss the comical interactions with the team as they contribute towards a smile on a difficult day.
Regarding my future in social work, I hope to work for Local Authority in a Child Protection team where I can be challenged even further and develop new skills along the way. I will for sure keep Focus in mind in my awaited career in social work.
All there is left to say is a huge thank you and good luck to Sophie! We will miss having you as a part of the team and wish you every success in your future career. We look forward to hearing all about your adventures as a qualified social worker!!
