Meet The Team – Jenna, Supervising Social Worker

Welcome back to Meet The Team, our blog series dedicated to the amazing people working at Focus Foster Care. We have recently had a new supervising social worker join the team. Jenna started her role here at Focus at the beginning of August and is already a valued member of the Focus family.

Our Meet The Team interviews are an opportunity for our new and potential foster carers to get to know the people who work hard to make Focus Foster Care the successful independent fostering agency that it is today. We are a small yet passionate team and every single member of staff is committed to providing children and foster carers with the best support possible. We are excited to welcome Jenna aboard and hope that you enjoy getting to know our new supervising social worker.

Now, over to Jenna…

Jenna – Supervising Social Worker

My name is Jenna and I joined Focus Foster Care on the 1st of August 2023 as a supervising social worker. I have recently graduated as a social worker this year and I am excited to be a part of Focus Foster care’s family.

Before I joined Focus Foster Care, I had an allocated placement within a Local Authority within fostering and I loved it. One of my favourite parts was watching the children grow within their foster homes and supporting the foster carers whenever possible. One of the reasons I joined Focus Foster Care is because they are a family and they truly have the best interest for each individual and child.

One of the things I have learnt is being a foster parent is very awarding but also can be challenging at times. The children that come into care have come from complex backgrounds, so we need to understand where they have come from so that we can understand their behaviour and the child’s needs. Children that come into care come in for all different reasons and we must give them the help and support that they need to overcome any challenges and trauma from their past experiences.

Outside of work, I am a mother of two a boy who is 4 years old and a girl who is 12. We are a blended family as I also have 3 stepchildren who are 18,15,12. I love spending time with my children and stepchildren and taking them out even if we just got to the park for an hour. I also have a dog called Lila she is an English bulldog she likes a lot of fuss and cuddles and has lots of energy when she meets new people. I love spending time with family and friends and going out for food. I also love going on holiday and exploring different countries.
