Hi My name is Miriam and I am an Independent Panel Member.
I qualified as a social worker in 2007 and one of my first roles was that of a Parenting Programme Coordinator in an Early Intervention Service in North London. This programme was called Families and Schools together and was focused on strengthening secure attachments between parents and their children, showing the positive impact this has not only on children’s emotional wellbeing but also on their educational achievements.
I have thoroughly enjoyed spending the past 10 years working in fostering as a Supervising Social Worker as well as an Independent Form F Assessor. These roles have allowed me to support foster carers throughout their fostering journeys as well as helping out with recruitment, assessment and preparation of prospective foster carers.
At the moment I am a Supervising Social Worker for a local authority, alongside my work as an independent Form F Assessor and a Panel Member for an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA) in Nottingham.
I am also a proud parent to an energetic eight-year-old son. In our free time, we enjoy spending as much time outdoors as we can, whether that’s heading off for a camping weekend (complete with all the packing) or exploring beautiful walks in the Peak District.
