Meet The Focus Foster Care Supervising Social Worker – Donna

Name: Donna Belsey

What is your job role? Supervising social worker

When did you start working for Focus?

I started working for focus in April 2022 after working within a school pastoral team and previous to that have been a supervising social worker for over 10 years in local authority.

What do you love about your job?

Everyone has been so, so, welcoming at Focus and I love the shared passion in ensuring the best outcomes for the children and young people we look after. I also feel that foster carers are unsung heroes in influencing and changing the lives of the children they look after. I am proud to be part of a family focussed fostering agency which allows me to provide the support and time to build relationships with our fostering families.

What have you learnt about fostering that you think all potential foster carers should know?

I think fostering is a life-changing experiences with overwhelming benefits and also its challenges, however its about recognising where you can seek support from in times of need and celebrating the little successes, what might seem like a ‘little’ success could be hugely important to that child.

What interests do you have outside of work?

In addition to being a social worker for 15 years, I am a very proud Mum of 2 girlies, Amelia (5) and Megan (2). We enjoy being outside and going on holidays as a family, making memories and enjoying spending time together.  I do like to bake (although not always successful) and also enjoy watching England Rugby Games and am an avid Liverpool Football Fan.
