Focus Foster Care team manager wins Best LP Practice Supervisor award
In June this year, Focus Foster Care’s very own team manager, Emma, was nominated for the prestigious title of ‘Best LP Practice Supervisor’ at the Birmingham City University ‘Social Work Practice Learning Celebration Day’. We could not be prouder to announce that Emma went on to win the award.
Here at Focus Foster Care, we celebrate our foster carers, the children we look after and our hard working and dedicated staff too. Winning the ‘Best LP Practice Supervisor’ award in an exceptional achievement and shows how hard our team manager works to help educate the next generation of social workers, alongside all of her other management duties.
If you are not familiar with the award, it is presented to one nominated LP Practice Supervisor and nominated persons must have been performing the role of LP in the last academic year. Nominations for the award can only be submitted by year 2 MSC students, year 3 BSc Students, BCU Practice or Personal Tutors, BCU Administrators, Managers, Practice Learning Coordinators within an External Agency offering placements to BCU, or a LP Practice Educator working with BCU Students in 2021/22.

Practice Tutor Birgit Forster nominated Emma for this award and her accompanying statement is full of praise for our team manager.
“Emma has been exceptional as a Practice Supervisor on a last placement for a
student who experienced a number of personal challenges along the way. Emma
was very supportive but also ensured that adequate learning opportunities are
provided as part of the day-to-day tasks on placement. Emma demonstrated very
good organisational and time management skills to allow the student the right work-
life balance and still keeping the focus on the placement requirements.
I nominate Emma for this award because she showed flexibility and an empathic
approach, she continuously worked closely with the Practice Educator and the
Practice Tutor to support the student. As a result, the student felt empowered, and
this led to a successful pass of the last placement.”
As an agency, we wish to again congratulate Emma on this achievement, is it very well deserved.
